Aris Stamatelaky, 5th Degree Black Belt, Chief Iaido and Aiki-weapons Instructor

Stamatelaky Sensei is City Aikido of Los Angeles’ Chief Iaido and Aiki-Weapons Instructor. He began training in Aikido in 1963 at the Manila Aikido Club, and obtained the rank of First Degree Black Belt in 1967. Stamatelaky Sensei moved to the U.S. in 1969. He trained briefly at New York Aikikai before moving to Los Angeles where he trained at several dojo prior to joining City Aikido of Los Angeles in 1993. Stamatelaky Sensei studied Iaido with Kazuo Chiba Shihan, 8th Dan, and has been an Iaido and Aiki-Weapons instructor for several years.

Victor Rodriguez, 4th Degree Black Belt, Dojo-Cho

Rodriguez Sensei began his Aikido training in 1985  under the late Kensho Furuya Sensei at the Aikido Center of Los Angeles. He obtained the rank of First Degree Black Belt in 1988 and, shortly thereafter, became an assistant instructor. In 1993, Rodriguez Sensei continued his training at City Aikido of Los Angeles under the direction of Kazuho Nishida Shihan. On October 6, 2000, Nishida Sensei appointed him Chief Instructor of City Aikido of Los Angeles, and in 2020, upon his retirement, Nishida Sensei appointed Rodriguez Sensei to be the City Aikido of Los Angeles Dojo-Cho (Head of the Dojo).
